Layered manufacturing as a high volume production method

Initially fcubic's goal was to manufacture equipment's using layered manufacturing for the industry. We have been focusing on transferring the rapid prototyping technology to high volume production. During the development process we have realised that production have different requirements compared to prototyping. While rapid prototyping machines mainly consists of the machine itself, a production system consist of a process chain where automatization is a vital part of the process. Automatization is vital for cost reduction since manual labour is expensive and will increase the price of the parts.

We have therefore decided to start our own production as a service to our customers. We also think this is the best way of developing a high volume production chain where rational production and economy are the main objectives. The next step in our development is to have a capacity of 10 000 parts / day (10mm part size), a ten time increase compared to what we can do today.
